Phil Hickes is an author of scary (and sometimes very scary) books for younger readers. Born in the UK, Phil currently lives in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, together with his partner and a high-maintenance pit-mix rescue called Tio.
Phil is the author of the bestselling Aveline Jones series, which has been translated into 7 languages to date as well as its prequel, the Shadowhall Academy duology. In 2025 he published his debut with Barrington Stoke, The Last Day of October, a spooky Halloween tale aimed at dyslexic and reluctant younger readers.
Phil is currently working on his first adult horror, as well as more spooky middle-grade stories. He likes reading horror, watching horror, and talking about horror, which if you think makes him sound a little one-dimensional, would be very true!
