Dev Kothari is an Indian-British author who grew up in a sleepy hamlet near Mumbai, where she read obsessively, wrote furtively and daydreamed endlessly.
After graduating with an engineering degree, she moved to the UK where she worked in the digital consulting industry for several years. She went on to earn an MBA from the University of Oxford and an MA with distinction in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University.
Her debut middle grade novel, Bringing Back Kay-Kay, published in April 2024 by Walker Books, was named the Children’s Book of the Week in The Times and was called ‘a mystery worthy of Agatha Christie’ in The Telegraph. She won the Commonword Diversity YA novel prize in 2018 and her work has been listed for many other awards.
Dev now works full-time as a writer and creative writing teacher. She lives in London with her husband and two daughters.
