Clare Fennell

As a child Clare was either reading, talking or sketching exceptional ball gowns for her toys.
After gaining an illustration degree, Clare worked as a designer and product manager in the greetings card industry for fifteen years. After which she decided to follow her lifelong ambition to illustrate children’s books. Clare set to work creating her own studio filled with picture books, cats, cushions, pencils, paint and a gazillion scraps of paper.
Clare has now illustrated over 60 books including ‘The Christmas sElfie’ which featured as the CBeebies bedtime story for Xmas Day 2018. In 2025 Clare’s dream of being an author illustrator came true with the publication of Ten on the Bus!
She uses a mix of collage and digital techniques, she loves pattern, texture, typography and is always collecting things to use in her artwork.
Clare works from her studio in Leicestershire, where she can also be found daydreaming, listening to loud tunes, and drinking too much coffee. She is often distracted by Bowie the Border Collie who likes to give art direction.
