Ayaan Mohamud
Author
Ayaan Mohamud is a Somali author and medical editor based in London. She writes stories that centre Muslim and Somali characters, because she believes everyone deserves to see themselves as a protagonist.
Ayaan might seem like the nerdy-type, but when she’s not writing, or complaining about writing, this ex-doctor finds joy in annoying her husband, daydreaming about Karak chai and Greggs’ Tottenham cakes, and (maybe, possibly) finally getting an indoor plant.
Her debut contemporary YA novel You Think You Know Me was published in 2023 and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Prize 2024 and the Branford Boase Award 2024. Her second YA novel, The Thread That Connects Us, was published in 2024.
