Aneesa Marufu lives in Manchester with her two children and was the winner of the Kimberley Chambers Kickstart Prize for underrepresented writers in 2019. Her first novel was named on Waterstones’ Best Books of 2022 list and was selected as The English Language Honors Society’s Big Read for 2024-2025, whilst her second novel was longlisted for the Diverse Book Awards in 2024. She has always supported the inclusion of underrepresented voices within publishing and assisted in hosting the inaugural South Asian Literature Festival in 2024 in partnership with The British Library.
